Creating a Template

Tracy Tishion's picture

I have a few math pages like clock faces and fractions that I'm continually recreating on new pages. I know I can copy notebook pages but is there a way to create a template to place in the gallery for future lessons of these pages?

Answer:

You are correct that pages can easily be copied but they, too, can be made into templates. Once you have created that notebook page that you'd like to use in the future, simply click and drag the thumbnail image of the page to the gallery which is open and the template folder is open as well. You will drop the page into the template folder. Now you can right click on the image in the template folder, choose properties, and you'll be able to rename the template to a more appropriate label. As always, if you get the chance, check out the other tips and suggestions found in MimioConnect Ask a Master.

MimioTeach With Green Light But Not Working

Tracy Tishion's picture

My MimioTeach is on and there's a blinking green light but it doesn't respond. What could be going on?

Answer:

That blinking green light means that the MimioTeach is looking for the MimioStudio notebook. If your notebook is open and the light is blinking, then this means that the MimioTeach device needs a firmware update. To do this, attach the MimioTeach device/bar directly to your computer via the USB cable included with the bar. Once connected the update will run automatically. When done, remove the cable from the computer and reconnect it to the adapter on wall outlet and the light should return to a solid green color.

End of Year Clean Up and Summer

Tracy Tishion's picture

I'm new to Mimio this year and am wondering how to store my equipment for the summer and how can I work on lessons over the summer if I don't have my equipment?

Answer:

This is a good question with a few suggestions for you based on your school situation. Some school districts have guidelines as to what to do with technology at the end of the year. The first thing I'd recommend is check with fellow colleagues to see if there is some procedures in place. Some IT departments collect, label, and hold onto teachers' laptops and equipment to do updates and clean equipment while others let the teachers lock up these things in a classroom closet if that's available. If you are storing equipment in your room, then please make sure you remove any batteries that are used in the equipment. This will prevent them from heating up and melting inside the devices over the hot summer months. If you are able to take your classroom computer (laptop) home then you'll already have the MimioStudio software on your computer to continue to use and create lessons. If you can't take the computer home and have another one at home then you'll be able to download a limited, home version of the MimioStudio software from the website and create lessons that way. You can save them to a USB/flash drive or if you have cloud storage, save them there. Whatever your district protocols are, just be proactive and ask any questions you might have to make sure your equipment can be stored safely and securely, to be ready for you to hit the ground running for the new school year!

The New Chromebook Flips and MimioStudio software

Tracy Tishion's picture

Can the new Chromebook Flips be used with my Mimio files?

Answer:

You had asked if there was a way to use the Chromebook flip and manipulate your Mimio files/lessons through this device. The Answer is yes and it's done through web access! Here are the instructions to get you up and running with a Chromebook flip:
1. Open a lesson on your computer, not the Chromebook.
2. On the Chromebook, go to http://mobile.mimio.com
3. Now, inside the lesson page. Go to Tools>Settings>Mobile.
4. You'll see "Connection Information." You want to make sure that your information is the same on the Chromebook for IP Address, Port (second number for Web), and input access code. When you are looking at the Chromebook, click on the word TEACHER so it is in blue, and click on MANUAL for Connection methods. Here is where you can match up the IP Address, Port, and Access code. Once they are inputted correctly, click on "Connect."
5.Your lesson page should now be mirrored on your Chromebook and ready to use!
