A lesson on testing mineral hardness using Mohs Hardness Scale. This lesson is meant to be used as part of a larger unit on the properties of minerals. Students will test hardness of 4 minerals on the scale with common objects - using that comparison and Mohs Scale of Hardness to identify the minerals. This is a wonderful resource

This is a wonderful resource and I definitely plan on using it next year to support my unit on Earth Structures. I really like the chart you created and the directions you provided. The questions you ask on the rest of the slides are really helpful in reinforcing this concept. I also like that you mix in other properties of minerals.
