Sink or Float

Total views: 2370

This lesson begins with a reference to the Magic School Bus Video "Ups and Downs" which I showed to my students the day prior to this lesson. You will then be linked to a BrainPOP Jr. movie & quiz on Sinking on Floating. This is followed by a series of myths and facts (along with photos) about sinking and floating. I modeled each of these myths and facts with the children using real water and objects. After that, you are linked to an on-line game called "Digger and the Gang". Finally, an experiment of which objects float and which sink conclude the lesson. Just have your students predict which objects on the page they think will sink and which will float. After that, I had my students work in small groups to test each object and note the results in their science journals.
