Sound

Thank you for the information on how to add sound! I want to work on adding more audio/video on my Mimio activities and this will help me get started! I love your ideas especially for my Kindergarten class. Thanks!

Adding Sound to a Picture

Like my first graders, I am a visual learner. Thank you for posting the information in video format. I will be using this in my new lesson creations.

Thank you for the lesson. I

Thank you for the lesson. I thought you had to add a sound link behind the picture, I didn't realize you could link sound to the actual picture.

Adding Sound

I'm probably the only person that doesn't understand how to get all of those pictures with sounds. For example: how did you go to the picture of the fork and have it say fork? Where are those pictures? Is it possible to add your voice to one of the little speaker icons and have it speak? Thank you.

adding sound

In order to link a sound to a picture, follow the steps in the video, as outlined here:
1. add a picture from your gallery or by using the screen clipping tool
2. right click on the picture and select "hyperlink"
3. change the feature to "play sound"
4. click "load" and find the sound (wherever you have it saved on your computer) OR if it's one in the gallery, find it in the gallery and drag it to the box on this little pop up screen
5. click "ok." Now the little orange play symbol should appear when you hover over the image

To add one of the little speakers instead of linking the sound to a picture:
1. along the top of the page, select "insert - file"
2. find the sound file wherever it is saved on your computer and click "open"
3. the little speaker should appear on the page and can be moved or resized as needed

Hope that helps! Let us know if we can help you any further.

Sounds like fun!

Thanks for posting the video on how to link the sounds. Even though I teach math, the new and unexpected, like a sound attached to a problem or idea can be so captivating. I can't wait to try with my class.

Learned Something New

Hi,
Thank you for this video. I am in the Mimio Studio training and I have not learned how to use this feature yet. I think this is a great feature for teachers who are teaching students English.

Where can I find sound?

I loved the video tutorial! Thanks. Now - when I try to browse to a sound, they sounds in my mimio gallery don't show up. How do I make them available to link?

finding sounds

There are many sounds that come in your gallery when you download MimioStudio. If you search for the word "sound" in your gallery search box, you should find them that way. You can also scroll through the Multimedia folder of the gallery (the folders are Images, Templates, MULTIMEDIA, and Lessons).
Another way to add sound to your lesson is by finding free sounds on the internet and dragging them into the lesson, or better yet, into your gallery so you have it for future use!

sound with transition

Great question! There is not a way to attach a sound to the page transition, but you can add a sound to the corner of a page and play that sound right before changing the page if that helps.

Sound for Directions

I just love adding sound, especially for the elementary level. Lots of great info. I think it would be great to record the directions for the activity and attach it for the kids in kinder and first grade so they could use it in a center independently.

Adding sound to Mimio

I found this forum to be very informative. I did not know how to add sound to my Mimio lessons, so this gave me the information needed. I appreciate how it was repeated several times and it walked through each step. I will be utilizing sound in my Mimio lessons in the very near future.

Adding Sounds are great!

I really enjoy adding sounds to all of my interactive lessons. Is it possible to attach sounds from my gallery to an object inside of my Notebook?

Attaching from the gallery

Good question, Mr. Washington!
When you have an object in MimioStudio selected, right click and select "hyperlink.". You can also choose "insert" along the top and go down to hyperlink there. When the action settings box opens, change the feature to "play sound." Find the sound you'd like to add from the gallery and drag it to the open space in this window. You'll see a little speaker appear and you can test it to be sure it's the sound you wanted. Click ok, and the sound will be attached to the object. Lock the object to get rid of the blue box and the little orange play button becomes visible when you hover over the object.
Hope that helps!

Sound + reveal?

Great question! Since sounds and reveals are both multimedia elements in a lesson, when placed on top of one another, the top one is the only one that remains active. As a work around, could you cover the picture or image with a reveal and have the sound next to it? While working on your lesson, go to insert, then file, and find the sound file that you want to add. The little speaker icon will appear on the page, and you can resize it, move it as needed, and I would put it next to the reveal. Students can still listen to the sound when needed with or without seeing the picture first. If the sound is in your gallery already, just drag it onto the page and the little speaker icon appears.
I'm not sure if this idea will work for what you're trying to accomplish, but it may be worth a try! Let us know if we can help any further.

Adding sound

I did this activity along with the video. When I got Action Settings box and clicked "Load" it took me to my desktop. But I wanted to pull from my Gallery, so I just dragged & dropped the sound in and it worked that way, too! Great!

adding sounds

Can this work with a sound in the gallery? I just grouped the sound with my picture, but then you see the sound icon.

I tried exporting gallery sounds, but it exports them as a gallery file, not a sound file.

Thanks!

You could record yourself

You could record yourself reading it aloud then add that file to the picture in your lesson. Or, maybe you can find a recording of it by someone with a "Declaration of Independence"-voice, which I'm sure the students would love :)

Adding Sound to a picture

This is great way to get students more engaged in an already engaging program. Where do you find all the different sounds. Is there a website I can go to.

Sound files

I'm glad you're interested in adding sounds to your lessons! In MimioStudio, if you go to Insert...File, and change the file types to audio, you can see all the different sound types that can be added to your lessons. I find some free by just searching the internet (make sure that you're allowed to share them from the site you get them from!) and some of them I create with a sound recorder on my computer.
Good luck!

Finding/Creating Sounds to Use

Thank you so much for the added detail regarding where to go and how to actually get the sound files. I am new to using the Mimio and I am intrigued by the gallery and the ability to add sound, images, videos, but I still have a bit of a mental block regarding exactly where to start. How am I assured that stuff I find online is free to the public? If it is "free" do I need to reference or can I just use it?
Thanks!
