Learning About Wild Animals

Total views: 2742
Summary:

This set of lessons was created for the prek students who have been learning about animals. The focus is on wild animals and gives the students an opportunity to compare them to tame animals, like pets. Since part of their yearly objectives focus on being able to talk about the similarities and differences in organisms, the students will be able to learn about lions and tigers and use a venn diagram to share their new knowledge. They will also be able to sort animals into five classification groups and take a 10 question yes/no quiz. I included a video on cat sounds and a website resource page.

Great job!

Thank you for posting the Learning About Wild Animals lesson, Gail. It looks like many users have viewed and downloaded your lesson already! I like that you have included many opportunities to practice the skill of differentiating between lions and tigers.

To help this lesson reach its full potential, I would consider adding learning objectives to all of the lesson pages. I see you provide instructions at the beginning of the lesson. The addition of learning objectives will allow you to use MimioStudio software to let both teacher and student know exactly what is expected on each page of an interactive lesson. The objectives should be student focused, observable, and measurable. Here are a few videos that will give ideas on adding objectives to your lesson:

Actively Learning About Wild Animals

This is a thorough unit full of engaging activities that will challenge Pre-K students. I think the Venn Diagram and the questions add rigor to the unit and will prove to be a wonderful assessment. I can't wait to learn more about the Mimio Connect lessons!
