Letter Formation - Vv, Ww, Yy, Xx

Total views: 1900
Summary:

This activity was created for Kindergarten students, but may be used with 1st Grade as well, for the purpose of forming letters correctly. The lesson focuses on 4 letters of the alphabet that are taught in sequence: Vv, Ww, Yy, and Xx. There is a separate lesson for each letter. For each of the 4 letters, there is a variety of ways for students to watch, listen, practice, and identify each of the uppercase and lowercase letters.

The students start out by watching how to form the letter with animation on a hyperlinked webpage. Next they can trace over the letters and try to write them on their own. Then they try to write the letter without looking at it. There is a "helping hand" audio prompt for students who may need it and a way to check their answer. And finally an activity for them to do with each letter which gives them immediate feedback on whether or not they answered correctly. Each activity is a little different to give them a variety of ways to play with the letters.
