Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

This lesson involves a variety of activities to practice identifying whether or not lines are parallel and perpendicular by looking at the slope. Students begin by reviewing how to determine the slope and recognizing parallel lines using the slope. Students will then investigate perpendicular lines to determine how their slopes are related. They will practice identifying perpendicular lines using the slope and will have practice writing equations for perpendicular lines.

Kristen, CONGRATULATIONS on earning your place as a Finalist with this entry to our FETC 2011 contest! Good objectives and wonderful activities in the lesson! It makes it easier for me (as the student) to have the objective for each activity on that activities page so I don’t have to flip back to slide 2 to read what the objective is. Remember to only use verbs that are observable and measurable – so write and identify were great in your objectives. The Vote questions at the end need some formating changes but otherwise great! Below is the grading criteria we used for each of the contest entries, so that all can see where this lesson excels.
