Great Lesson

Thank you so much for sharing this; I know that this took a good deal of time and effort. I am going to share it with the English and Social Studies teachers at my school.

War posters

This middle or highschool lesson has links to several high quality sources of WWII posters for students to view and analyze. The teaching is sound; activation of background knowledge, followed by definitions of persuasion and propaganda. Then clear charts are used in student practice for analyzing posters for elements. The final activity instructing the students to create their own war poster was a perfect synthesis of concepts learned. Two suggestions; proofread the first page and add an extension activity which asks students to apply what they've learned to contemporary posters from current conflicts.
