Pop Sticks / Number Rods / Counting Sticks
Use as creatively as you like. However in the NZ Numeracy Project is used to develop the 'make a ten' strategy in two-digit addition (additive). Can be used for counting or counting in tens or fives. Bundles of ten can be ungrouped.

Pairs to 12
We are learning to recognise groupings within numbers to 12. Students roll two dice and add the two numbers up. Then find two pairs that make that number and put counters over the numbers. Record the pair on the working area with the pen.

Arithmetic Sequences: Food Four Thought Game
Game based on Pearson's Algebra 2 9.2 Activity. Students roll number cubes to randomly draw numerical values to piece together in an Arithmetic Sequence. This game can be played in pairs or two small teams.
