Wish List

I was wondering if we could have a wish list for this site.

I'll go first.

It would be good to have a thumbnail picture of an activity - especially for those people with limited download availability.

Searching tags offline

I'd like to be able to search through the lessons I've downloaded like I can search through them on Mimio Connect. I share a lot of lessons with other teachers and they haven't found them on MimioConnect and can't always tell by just the name what the lesson is about or what age it is suitable for.

More bilingual content

I would really like to see more bilingual activities and lessons. I'm starting to create them but I would like to see more things from other people. Most of the lessons with Spanish is for Spanish Teachers to use to teach Spanish. I need activities that are solely Spanish for my students in Second grade.

search box

I like the idea of a wish list for this site. My first wish is the search box. When I click on 5th grade math, that is not what comes up. I get very frustrated because it can take so much time for me to find topics that apply to what I teach.

Symbols Wish List

I have cheated a little, and did copy and paste some images into my gallery, but I wish for a gallery of mathematic symbols, letters with accents, and similar sorts for those of us creating our own math lessons and teaching foreign languages.

math symbols

What math symbols are you interested in having in your gallery. If I have any that you are interested in, I could upload them.

Another solution is to use Alt codes when writing a mimio lesson. You can find alt codes for foreign languages here

math alt codes here

I hope that this helps.

Lessons to use in the Media Center

I would love to hear about how media specialists are using the MIMIO in their media centers or in their media lessons. It would be great to start brainstorming how the MIMIO could be incorporated into media lessons you have been doing for years. How have you modified your lessons to fit the MIMIO into them? Has anyone done this?

Multiple page view

One of my wishes is to have the multiple view on the side of the page like PowerPoint to make drag and drop easy. The gallery has been static now for a long time and nothing new has been added. We need a load of Flash tools eg hundreds boards, clocks, protractors etc and science tools to use. The quality of some of the graphics is very poor, eg the maps and the Human body. They are not cutting edge.

Hi Jo, You are supposed to

Hi Jo, You are supposed to be on holiday. I would like more multimedia galleries and resources

- like a compass
- the protractor to have the numbers on
- a dice we can add numbers or letters to ourselves

Maybe this needs to be a separate forum. What do you think?
I wonder what other teachers want.

Thumbnails and suggestions

You stole my thunder! I was going to say exactly those two things. Thumbnails are a must IMHO. Once you've downoaded them it's too late. We need two or three visible screenshots of the pages to decide suitability or otherwise.
Also a suggestions page speaks for itself.

I don't know if this will be

I don't know if this will be much help, but I always choose to Open them first before I Save. Then I can get a quick view of what the lesson is without downloading, going to my folder, double clicking, and then opening.

So when I open, I go to the "Multi Page" tab and just snag only the slides that I like, and copy them to my own .ink file. This way I never had to save the actual file that I downloaded, unless I want the whole thing.

Thumbnails would be nice though.

ims would be great

I think that is an amazing idea! It really would be neat to have some instant and off the cuff discussion about what we are using, how it worked or didn't work. If we are supposed to teach to the kids in their frame of mind (tech all the time) then we should have that too between educators. Besides, I'm sure many of us are facebook junkies! :)

Ask a Master

Question:

I'd like to create some Valentine's Day lessons that have heart shaped reveals. Are there any heart-shaped reveals in the Mimio gallery?

Answer:

Thank you for such a creative question. This is something that I'm sure many of our community members could benefit from as they design their Valentine's lessons too! There is a gallery of fun...
