Technical questions concerning Mimio

Greetings all,

I hail from Australia and have not been able to contact mimio via their Australian phone line. I have a few questions that may go beyond general knowledge.

First of all, we have a screen that is 2.4 x 1.2 metres in size. double the width than what it was before. I would like to learn more about what hardware I have as I am moving into this job.

1) On the underside of the mimio device, the model number shows DMA-02, which year is this?

2) Are there any newer models going to be released in the near future?

3) One thing that people ask me about is the response time, how can I increase the responsiveness of the device. where is the bottleneck hardware or software?

4) Is it possible to have two mimio devices where one is calibrated for the left screen and one for the right screen and still be able to use the same pen?

for (4) Hardware wise, the pen works on the same frequency. Software wise the region outside the calibrated area would not register for the other device so if anything, the pen may jump a few pixels up/down in the middle of the screen when dragging the pen across. I wonder if there would be any driver related problems with two mimio devices on Windows *

Anyone have a better contact for getting these questions answered?

An Answer from the mimio Technical Support Department!

A: DMA 02 is the most current version. It has been in the market since 2003.

2) Are there any newer models going to be released in the near future?

A: We are always looking to improve our products but at this moment there is no official plans for a newer model.

A: If there is a bottleneck, it is most probably software. Make sure you have the latest version of mimio Studio install. You can download it from www.mimio.com. You can find hardware information in this link: http://www.mimio.com/downloads/files/mimiointeractive_datasheet.pdf

4) Is it possible to have two mimio devices where one is calibrated for the left screen and one for the right screen and still be able to use the same pen?

A: Technically, you can combined two or more mimios but we have seen some issues and is something that we don’t recommend. Your board size (2.4 x 1.2 metres in size) can be use with only one mimio. Instructions on how to combined mimios are in page 51 of the uses guide. You can download it from the link below.

A: You will calibrate the combined surface. It will recognize the combined mimio as a single device. You need to give a name to the combined surface and it will be treated as a single mimio.

I've also been trying Mimio DMA-02 with Windows 7 in dual screen mode (extended desktop). E.g. 2 projectors forming 1 screen.

However, during calibration, the calibration page is only shown on one projector, but not the other side. So my question is can I use Mimio in dual screen mode under Windows 7?
