First Day Back

Thanks for sharing these sites. As a veteran teacher, I still look for new things to do every year. And finding decent icebreakers that the students haven't seen/done before is not easy. I can't wait to try these out this coming year!

First days---week

I feel like I always do the same things every year, read the same books and do the same activities. But that is going to change this year. There were a ton of new ideas that I will share with other teachers at my school. The first ones that caught my eye were class puzzle and special memories book. These sound like great ways to build that classroom community. I like the Parents Have Homework letter but I need it in spanish. Most of my parents only speak/read spanish. If anyone already has this or something close in spanish, please share.

First Day

I really like these sites. I really like the "Planning for the first day" site. Sometimes during that rush to get prepared little things slip by and this was a great reminder. I plan on using this at the start of the year or maybe even at the new semester.

Thanks--great stuff!

Wow, thank you so much. I am always looking for new ideas for icebreakers, and you had some good ones I haven't used. As a teacher educator, I am always on the lookout for things I can share with my students to help prepare them--you have some wonderful resources here that I will be sure to pass on. Best piece of advice I ever got as a new teacher: "A good teacher is a good thief." And I always add on, "but make sure you give the person from whom you got the idea credit." I will make sure I do both! Thanks again.

Back to school

I found so many new ideas that I thought would be great to use with my homeroom at the beginning of the new school year. Very simple ideas that are easy to use. I want to try and do a different idea with each period so the students can get to know each other and I can get to know them.

Thanks!

This is a great list of sites. I am thinking of developing an ink file that introduces my students to the basic features of the mimio that I will use on the first day (or more likely sometime during the first week). When I get it finished I will post it.

Classroom Management

I am teacher. I found a website with classroom management tricks and I follow that. The interest, abilities, and time constraints of your students have to be considered. My students finish their assignments on time and ask for some more. Log on to www.classroom-management.org for additional information.

Question:

I'd like to create some Valentine's Day lessons that have heart shaped reveals. Are there any heart-shaped reveals in the Mimio gallery?

Answer:

Thank you for such a creative question. This is something that I'm sure many of our community members could benefit from as they design their Valentine's lessons too! There is a gallery of fun...
