Need a Book and Lesson Templates for Mimio

I am desperate for a detailed book that will teach me how to use the Mimio pad. All that came with the Mimio pad was a little pamphlet. I have tried, without success to use a .jpeg file, but it won't open. I have searched this site, but all I find for the topics I want to teach are lessons for little children, and my students are older. I also need templates for lessons. I tried Amazon and Scholastic, but no one seems to have a book on the Mimio. Please help.

Practice...

Using the Mimio Pad takes some getting use to and yes, do NOT look at the pad when using it, look at the board. It seems as if sometimes you are going to go "off" the pad to get to what you want, but your not. Just practice using it and you will get it.

As far as templates and lessons, there are many on here. I agree though, there are more for younger kids. MimioConnect is growing exponentially and as more teachers begin to uploaad lessons to share you will be able to find more that fits your needs. I'm sure of it. :)

Another thing is that if you find a lesson on here that you really like, and there is a page that you want to save, you can do that and it will save as a template in your own gallery. Use your thumbnail view (View>>Tab View), click and drag the page you want from the thumbnail into your gallery. It is now saved as a template you can use over and over again. ** Make sure you are organizing your gallery and placing it where you want (i.e. folder). The more you save into your gallery the more confusing it can be to find what you want if things are not organized. :)

Good luck!!

Thank you for the thorough

Thank you for the thorough reply to the original post. Practice helps tremendously, it is critical to practice the right way! The most frequently heard saying, about practice, goes, "Practice makes perfect!" However, a more realistic saying is, "Practice makes permanent!" I found that it is important to practice what works best for me: i.e., holding the pad securely at my elbow; focusing on the board, instead of the pad; and making slow, deliberate movements. I found by implementing these elements, I am becoming more proficient using the pad. I have to work hard not to set my own expectations too high, or I'll get frustrated and lose the progress made so far!

Content on MimioConnect is growing very fast, but I want lessons for older students NOW! I think I will work to create some lessons and post them in the near future!

There is a reference sheet on

There is a reference sheet on the mimio pad at this address.
http://www.mimio.dymo.com/downloads/mimiopad/hardware_ref_card_mimio_Pad...

It will tell you what the buttons on the mimiopad do. Also, as you are using the pad I find it easiest to use if you hold it securely tucked into your elbow and do NOT look at the pad when you are using it. Look at the white board - after a little practice you will be a pro. I love my mimio pad and can't imagine not having it to use daily. Hope this helps.

MimioPad reference sheet

The reference sheet is very helpful--I actually learned some things about Pad I did not already know! Thanks for providing the link--it sure made it easier to find and I wasn't forced to spend a lot of time searching!

Suggestions

My suggestion would be to ask a master on this site. Also if there are others in your community that have the mimio pad, you could collaborate with them. I know that many of the teachers at the high school in my district have the mimio pads. I would also suggest the ask a master on this site for help. You could also attend one of the free online trainings and ask your question in one of the beginner free webinars.
