Identify the value of a note in common time. Compare the value of the different notes in relationship to each other. Create rhythm patterns by filling a block with notes that will fill the fraction of the block the note is worth.

This lesson is a good visual

This lesson is a good visual way of showing note values. I've used it a few times in my classes, and the students enjoy going to the board to create rhythms.
