Question:
How do you view individual results from your class on mimio vote? I have the test working perfectly with the votes but I don't know how to view the results. All I can get is a pie graph which doesn't tell me who voted already or who knows the right answer. Please help.

Answer:
Thank you for your recent submission to Ask A Master on MimioConnect. We are so happy to have you as part of our growing online community. You are asking about viewing individual students results after using MimioVote. These results can be viewed from the MimioStudio Gradebook. Not only can you use the Gradebook to see student scores on assessments, but you can see how they did on each question.
For a good overview on the MimioStudio Gradebook, you might want to view a Quick Learn on Demand video at http://www.mimioconnect.com/quick_learn_demand_video_training Session 10 deals with the gradebook, and should answer all your questions.
I hope this information is helptul to you. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance - we are always here to help. Have a great evening!

Question:
When I create an activity using the Activity Wizard, there are times when I don't want the distractors included. I try to "exclude" them but they just get replaced with another one. How do I get rid of these distractors?

Answer:
Thank you for writing in with a question that seems to be on many users' minds. The answer is not so obvious by quite simple. When you come to the page in the Activity Wizard that has the library at the top of the page and the "choice pool" at the bottom, look at the choice pool. Find the distractor(s) that you want to get rid of and RIGHT click on each, selecting one at a time, and choose "empty." Once you've done this, the distractor gets eliminated from the choice pool. Continue the process until you have taken out all the necessary ones and then choose "Update" in the lower left hand corner for the changes to take effect. Enjoy creating and exploring the many and varied features of the MimioStudio software. If you get a chance, take a look at the plethora of tips and suggestions in the Ask a Master section of MimioConnect! Have a great day.

Question:
Is there a user's guide available for reference and troubleshooting for the MimioVote?

Answer:
Yes, there is a user's guide which covers all of the MimioClassroom products as well as help with the notebook software. Topics include MimioStudio, MimioTeach, MimioCapture, MimioVote, MimioView, Mimio Recorder, Getting Help and Troubleshooting. There are 3 versions available: Windows, Macintosh, and Linux depending upon your operating system. The guide can be downloaded by going to the link below and then to the MimioStudio Software heading (2nd one in the first row) and look below the picture to the second phrase down (MimioClassroom User's Guide). You'll need to click on the arrow next to the words and choose the version needed. The guide gets downloaded as a .pdf file. If there is anything else you need, just let us know. We're here to help. If you get a chance, take a little time to peruse the Ask a Master section of MimioConnect for more tips and suggestions.

Question:
I am new to Mimio and sometimes when I open a notebook page, there is a picture of my Mimio Teach bar on the left hand side. How do I get it off the page?
- Submitted By:

Answer:
Welcome to MimioConnect! We are glad to have you join our dynamic, online community of educators. This is something that will happen from time to time but there is a quick fix for it. When the picture of the bar is present, it means that you are not connected in the "interactive mode." This means that your stylus will not function properly. To get connected simply go to "File" from the top menu choices in your notebook, then in the drop down menu, choose "Connect." You should have only 1 choice. Once clicked on, the pictured bar should disappear and you'll be good to go.

Question:
When I download an activity on my home computer how do I find/retrieve it once at school ?(I am signed in as a member)

Answer:
Thank you for your recent submission to Ask a Master. We are so glad to have you as part of our wonderful online community of educators! You are wondering how to access an activity you have downloaded from MimioConnect on a different computer. When you download a file from MimioConnect it will only save and open on the computer that you are on at the time. I would suggest saving your downloads to a flash drive or external hard drive in order to transfer to your school computer. You can also tag the file as one of your favorites on MimioConnect and then when you get to your school computer you can open and download it there. To do this simply click on the “Add to favorites” blue link underneath the lesson plan or activity. When you log in at school you will be able to easily find this file by going to “View Profile” (top right of page under your username/picture) and then to “Favorites.” I hope you have found this helpful and please let me know if there is anything else you may need as we are always here to help. Have a great evening!

Question:
I have seen some lessons that are designed on a different size notebook page. Do I have the ability to change the size of my notebook page?
- Submitted By:
- Audrey

Answer:
Thank you for your recent question on MimioConnect's Ask a Master. You had asked about the notebook page and its re-sizing ability. You do have the capability to change the page size. All you'll need to do is go to File then Page Set Up from the menu tabs across the top of the notebook page. You can experiment with the various board sizes. The largest is the 1600 x 1200 and the 1024 x 768 is the most universal size used. Hopefully this will help. Should you have any more questions, just ask or visit MimioConnect's Ask a Master section and peruse through the many tips and suggestions found there!

Question:
How can I create a table in the Mimio notebook? Can an Excel table be interactive using Mimio?
- Submitted By:
- Laurina R.
- Date:
- Jan. 16, 2012
Answer:
Thank you for such a versatile question! There are a number of tables available for your use that can be found in the gallery. All you need to do is type the word "table" in the search box when you open up your gallery. Tables can also be easily made with the use of the shapes and line tools from your Mimio toolbar. To make sure that your lines are equally spaced in the table, you can utilize the "grid" feature which can be accessed from the "View" drop down menu in the notebook. When this feature is activated, you have control of how far apart you'd like the lines to be as well as if you'd like objects to be "snapped into place" once they are placed inside the created boxes. As for Excel tables, they can be imported in but they will lose their interactivity. To keep them active and be able to manipulate them, open them up outside of the notebook and just use your Mimio stylus/pen to input data or type text. For more suggestions and tips on how to maximize your lesson creation and development, check out the "Ask a Master" section of MimioConnect. Happy creating!

Question:
I'm not sure how to ask a question to a MimioConnect user who has posted a lesson on the website?
- Submitted By:
- Jennifer M.
- Date:

Answer:
Welcome to the community! You have asked an intriguing question, one of which has a couple of ways that it can be answered. As a community member, everyone has the ability to contact each other without ever having to enter an email address. Messages can be delivered and received through our "member profiles." To do this simply click on the user's name (in blue). On the next screen, above their name should be a phrase that says, "send message." Click on that and fill out the form and send. The recipient, when they've logged in, will see a number 1 next to the "check mail" in their profile box off to the right. This means that they have a message waiting. When they respond back, you'd get a check mail notice as well. I had said there was another way to ask a question. The other option is to leave a comment right below the posted lesson that the user has uploaded. With this method sometimes you run the risk of the user not checking the comments on a regular basis, so it could go unanswered for awhile. On the positive side of putting a question in the comment field, there might be other community members who have the same question as you and would benefit from a response or they might even have a solution to the question that the user might not need to respond giving you a variety of ways to look at a solution. Whichever method you choose, enjoy exploring the many, wonderful lessons that have been posted and if you get the chance check out the Ask a Master section for more tips and suggestions to enhance your Mimio experience!
