2011 Winter Lesson Contest

THIS CONTEST IS CLOSED AS OF DECEMBER 23, 2011 AT 11:59:59 PM EASTERN TIME (“ET”). Finalists will be announced around January 16, 2011 for a second round of judging by YOU (the MimioConnect Community!), so stay tuned. Thank you for your entries and may the best lessons win!

The MimioView document camera lets you capture images and live video to make your lessons more engaging.
Want a chance to win a MimioView Document Camera?
If you have relied on lessons posted on MimioConnect by other teachers, now’s the time to share yours. From now until December 23, if you post a winter-inspired lesson(s) on MimioConnect you’ll have a chance to win a MimioView Document Camera.

The winning lessons will be selected by Mimio and the greater MimioConnect community, and you will have a chance to vote for your favorite from a list of finalists. There will be one grand prize winner in each of the following categories:

  • Elementary school: ages 5-11/grades k-5
  • Middle school: ages 12-15/grades 6-9
  • High school: ages 16-18/grades 10-12

How to enter
To enter the contest, just upload your winter-themed lesson (cold weather, winter sports, hibernation, etc.) to MimioConnect and be sure to add the tag word “winter2011” to your file. Your lesson will be evaluated on the following instructional design principles:

  • Are the learning objectives student-focused, observable, and measurable?
  • Is the lesson sequenced from few to many and from easy to difficult?
  • Does the lesson offer numerous opportunities for the student to practice the skills they need to master?
  • Is the lesson page uncluttered and are all the objects relevant to the student activity?
Visit our Instructional Design Corner to see examples of these principles in practice!

Deadline for entries: Midnight EST December 23, 2011
Round 1 finalists selected by Mimio: December 24, 2011 - January 16, 2012
Round 2 winners voted in by MimioConnect members: January 16 - 30, 2012

Contest is open to U.S. residents only. Please see our contest rules for details.
